If you are looking for an unique spot for a family vacation, reunion or to spend a honeymoon, anniversary or romantic getaway these nightly / weekly rentals may be the place for you. The Riverview Compound is steps from a private access to the river and very close to (walking distance) the Bufford Beach Park with swimming, play and picnic areas and a boat launch. Within minutes of the Riverview Compound on the Spring River you will find "old town" Hardy, a step back in time, with antique and specialty shops, craft stores and gift nooks. Don't miss Hardy's Loberg Park with its walking path along the river's edge. One block from the historic Main Street, and steps from the Riverview Compound, you will find the Spring River for swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking or floating. The Spring River's source is 17 miles north at Mammoth Springs State Park, formed from the world's 10th largest spring that flows from an underground cavern at more than 234 million gallons a day with a constant 58 degree temperature. This water temperature makes the upper Spring River one of the most popular trout (both rainbow and brown) rivers in Arkansas. At the rivers lower stretches large and small mouth bass, walleye, channel catfish, redear sunfish and tiger muskies can be found. For the canoeist, kayaker or floater to experience the rushing falls and whitewater shoals of the Spring River there are many local river outfitters. Hunting in the area (Harold E. Alexander Wildlife Management Area six miles south of Hardy) includes; deer, bear, turkey, quail, rabbit, squirrel, coyote, raccoon, muskrat, nutria, beaver and crow. There are also nature and hiking trails in the wildlife management area. Less than four miles and a few minutes away in Cherokee Village are found two 18 hole golf courses, seven lakes for boating, fishing and swimming, two recreation centers and more. For an easy day trip are the famous Ozark Folk Center and Blanchard Spring Caverns. ![]() Tell Me About The Riverview Compound The Riverview Compound is located on the scenic Spring River in the beautiful foothills of the Ozarks in northeast Arkansas. It sits on a rocky hillside over looking the Spring River and the "falls" at one of the most lovely spots on the entire river. At the bottom of the hill, at the entrance to the compound, is an old stone garage or possibly a dry boat house. It sits right on the road and is the entry point up a small hill into the compound. At the top of the driveway you will find the double iron gates and the large "Angel of the River" statue that welcomes you into the property. The compound consists of three homes built in the late 1920's and early 1930's. Also on the grounds are buildings that were a former "bunkhouse", a bath house, and two stone pump houses that currently provide the well water. The first house that was rehabbed was the wood house that sits on a large field-stone foundation that was built around 1926. It is the Americana "Lodge" (to rent) and has three bedrooms, one bath with original cast iron sink and a claw foot soaking tub with a shower surround. There is a large kitchen / dining area and a large living room / fireplace area. It has a large deck with an ornate wood railing that overlooks the Spring River. The Lodge is currently being rented as a nightly / weekly vacation rental. The next two houses are stone dwellings built in the early 1930's. The Italian "Villa" was the second home rehabbed and is the current residence of the owners Don & Virginia Harris. It also has a large deck, highlighted by an antique railing (from Roanoake, Virginia), with an outstanding view of the "falls" / rapids. Below this porch deck is an original cement patio with three stone arches and an old porch swing. The final house which is currently being worked on, with one rental suite NOW COMPLETED, is the French "Chateau". This building will have three separate rental levels. The upper two floors will have New Orleans style wrought iron walk-out balconies with tables and chairs to sit, relax at and enjoy the spectacular view of the Spring River. The bottom ground level rental has a walk-out area with the same ornate porch posts to the porches above. The just under two acres of grounds has two original small ponds, rock walls, stone picnic areas and walks that are in the slow process of being restored. Once the three houses are completed and the grounds are restored work will begin on the old "bunk house" and "bath house". The Riverview Compound is a large, slow and ongoing project, a labor of love by the owners who are doing most of the work themselves. | Return Home | What's New | Lodge Rental | Chateau Rental | Villa Residence | How To Rent | Contact Us | Great Links | The Store | |
