The Riverview Compound is located on the scenic Spring River in the beautiful foothills of the Ozarks in northeast Arkansas. It sits on a rocky hillside over looking the Spring River and the "falls" at one of the most lovely spots on the entire river. At the bottom of the hill, at the entrance to the compound, is an old stone garage or possibly a dry boat house. It sits right on the road and is the entry point up a small hill into the compound. At the top of the driveway you will find the double iron gates and the large "Angel of the River" statue that overlooks the river below and welcomes you into the property. The compound consists of three homes built in the late 1920's and early 1930's. Also on the grounds are buildings that were a former "bunkhouse" and a bath house. The first house that was rehabbed was the wood house that sits on a large field-stone foundation that was built around 1926. It is the Americana "Lodge"  (to rent)  and has three bedrooms, one bath with original cast iron sink and a claw foot soaking tub with a shower surround. There is a large kitchen / dining area and a large living room / fireplace area. It has a large deck with an ornate wood railing that overlooks the Spring River. The Lodge is currently being rented as a nightly / weekly vacation rental. The next two houses are stone dwellings built in the early 1930's. The Italian "Villa" was the second home rehabbed and is the current residence of the owners Don & Virginia Harris. It also has a large deck, highlighted by an antique railing (from Roanoake, Virginia), with an outstanding view of the "falls" / rapids. Below this porch deck is an original cement patio with three stone arches and an old porch swing. The third house, The French "Chateau"has three separate rental levels. The upper two floors, the Chateau Suite and the Manoir, have New Orleans style wrought iron walk-out balconies with tables and chairs to sit, relax at and enjoy the spectacular view (and sound) of the Spring River flowing over the rapids. The bottom ground level rental, the Wine Cellar, has a walk-out area with the same ornate porch posts as the porches above. You can view any of these houses by selecting the links at the top of any page. The just under two acres of grounds has two original small ponds, rock walls, stone picnic areas and walks that are in the slow process of being restored. Once the three houses are completed and the grounds are restored work will begin on the old "bunk house" and "bath house". The Riverview Compound is a large, slow and ongoing project, a labor of love by the owners who are doing most of the work themselves.

On Going & Future Projects

at

The Riverview Compound

Now that the inside work is done it's time to work on the grounds. Some of the areas around the Riverview Compound were created in the 1930's and need to be restored. Other areas are new projects such as adding statues and landscaping around them. The following pictures will show some of these areas and the statues that we have added, some that need yet to be landscaped.
